Oxfam activists

Even the quickest campaign actions count. But what about doing something more? Oxfam activists do the vital job of spreading our message in the heart of our communities - building up the pressure, and getting the people who make the decisions to do the right thing.

We couldn't get the changes we want without them. Persuading decision-makers to act, and gathering popular support, can and does lead to lasting change. And it starts in your own community. We are setting up a local group for Liverpool. At our first meeting we will look at what is involved in and how you can take part.
Be involved from the start. Our first meeting will be on Tuesday 28th October 6-8pm

Down on the farm

Fancy a day on the farm? We are holding a volunteering taster day at Rice Lane City Farm on the 01/10/08 between 10am to 3:30pm
Rice Lane is a peaceful oasis in an urban sprawl comprising 224 acres of countryside, 11 of which are managed woodland.
A variety of rare breed farm animals are kept, including farm breeds of pigs, red poll cattle, Ryeland award-winning sheep as well as various goats, ponies and poultry. This historic site is also the resting place of Robert Tressel, author of 'The Ragged Trousered Philanthropist', Edgar Allen Poe's illustrator James Carling and a number of pirates!
If you are interested in finding out more about the farm and getting stuck in on a taster day please contact Paul at vinvolved on paul@vliverpool.org.uk or 0151 707 1113.

Residentials

vinvolved work closely with The National Trust and several times a year will be staying at National Trust base camps in North Wales, Derbyshire and The Lakes and helping with various conservation tasks. Resi’s are a great way to get in to volunteering, try something different, meet new people and help the environment. There is absolutely no charge for volunteers joining us on these trips, all we ask for is a positive attitude and some hard work! On all of the following dates we will be doing conservation work for The National Trust. We are also developing other activities to get involved in while we are away so please ask about what else to expect from the trip.

  1. Date: October 2008 (tbc) Snowdonia Marathon resi Location: Hendre Isaf National Trust base camp, North Wales
